Megown Photography Exhibit

by Geektographer on May.18, 2010, under Photography, Youngstown

“Making Memories — Prints from Youngstown Photographer John Douglas Megown,” an exhibition of prints curated and produced by Youngstown State University photography students, opens today at the Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave. [map], and runs through June 27.

The 28 prints were made from glass-plate negatives made by Youngstown photographer John Megown between 1908 and 1920, and selected from the more than 300 plates students printed as part of a course in vintage negatives.

Raging Lanterman

Raging Lanterman, originally uploaded by Christopher [cbpix.com].

With all the snow melting and then rain, Mill Creek is just gushing; the falls at Lanterman’s Mill are impressive right now.

Erin & Ryan

by Geektographer on Mar.15, 2010, under Photoblog, Photography

Erin & Ryan, originally uploaded by Christopher [cbpix.com].

I had the honor of photographing the wedding of Erin & Ryan this past weekend at Lanterman’s Mill. They were just a pleasure to get to know and work with. The weather did not cooperate for the ceremony, so it was held inside the covered bridge (which was pretty awesome!). After the ceremony though, the rain subsided and we got some great photographs at the Mill and on the silver bridge later.

This is one of my favorite photos of the newlyweds.
